This is our double width base kit for growing Microgreens such as SnowPea, Radish, Kale, Broccoli and Sunflower.
The stand is the shortest and comes with 4 trays i.e. 2 for growing the Microgreen under LED’s. The other 2 with the cover are used to start the Microgreens on the top shelf (warmth from the lights below) and is used with the cover, then after about a week move it to the bottom shelf with the lights giving you a constant supply of that particular type of Microgreen. Microgreen Kit 2x 10W Lights 2x Grow Trays 1x Cover

This is our double tray width base kit for growing Microgreens such as SnowPea, Radish, Kale, Broccoli and Sunflower.
The stand is the shortest height and comes with 4 trays (green Or yellow) i.e. 2 for growing the Microgreen under LED’s. The other 2 are used to start the Microgreens on the top shelf (warmth from the lights below) and is used with the cover, then after about a week move it to the base shelf with the lights giving you a constant supply of that particular type of Microgreen. Each tray comes with 2 internal lifting tabs which keeps the grill horizontal, normally it would sag in the centre, i.e. designed to drain liquid from the outside to the centre, but this is not appropriate for Microgreens.
So you have several options the 1st being the colour of the tray,
The 2nd being the power supply that you can use with our 5w and 10w LED lights. The cable splitter is included with the base kit.
So the options are – choose our 3A power supplies running at 12 V support 10 of the 5w LEDs and 6 of the 10w LEDs.
and running at 13.8 V support 6 of the 5w LEDs and 4 of the 10w LEDs. One year warranty.
The other alternative is to not purchase our power supply and purchase 3 or 4 for a similar price on eBay. Yes the quality is not as good sometimes they last a few months but most of the time they last several years at least.

So you get 4x Microgreen trays plus 2x covers (i.e. germination). As mentioned earlier the grill section of the tray comes with internal lifters, removing the unwonted sagging towards the centre. 2 x 10w LED lights with perspex brackets + 4 L of grow medium (mixed with Azomite and diatomaceous earth) You also get a sticky insect trap.
The 3rd option is a white Perspex base plate.
The purpose of using the base plate, is mainly to hide and protect the power supplies and timer from any spillage, this is why would include the extra feet they give you that little bit of extra height. Also when you are using the base tray to green up your sprouts i.e. in the colanders, it’s very convenient descended on the plate rather than amongst the cables underneath (in which case you would probably remove the by front crossbar to increase your access)

Here we see the Cover being used in germinating Radish seeds on the top shelf with Radish ready to be harvested on the bottom shelf. Daikon Radish sprout is probably the quickest and most prolific Microgreen and the easiest to grow and up there with broccoli sprouts as far as medicinal benefits, it along with the SnowPea are my 2 preferred favourite microgreens to grow. The heat from the light on the top shelf increases the germination rate and time. Click to hide

This tool is used in this situation to firstly flatten the surface of the growing medium, and then to gently press the seeds into the growing medium, so that the moisture from the growing medium comes in contact with the seeds (more important with respect to large seeds like peas where you are just using the cover) also if you are covering with a medium then use this tool to press the covering material down onto the seeds. Here we see the Cover being used with Sunflower microgreens, the roots are very unwieldy, meaning they go everywhere and keeping the cover on for an extended period of time helps the roots sort themselves out and find the growing medium, it also helps to get all the microgreens to the desired 2 leaf stage at the same time. So when the Sunflower is at this stage I just invert the cover i.e. so the moist side is at the top and occasionally take it off and give it a hard spray, helps the removal of the husk. Here we see the Acrylic Tweezers, being used to remove a mouldy seed. Note to the left there are a couple of seeds that are yellowish, these have the potential to develop mould, so using the tweezers to secure the seed, place your fingers around the seed and give it a gentle squeeze and the cover will slide off, it is this covering that causes the mould to develop, in the case of the white seeds the outer covering has dried out and will not be a problem once the top layer of the vermiculite dries out. Hydrogen Peroxide + Pipette + Optional 750ml Spray Bottle.
I use Hydrogen Peroxide or H2O2 in a spray bottle for Microgreens i.e. spraying the seeds and the paper towel at the base of the tray.
The H2O2 has 2 functions one is it releases oxygen into the water and it also counteracts any mould that may lie dormant attached to the outside of the seeds.
I recommend adding 3 mls to a 750 ml spray bottle, a full pipette is 3 mls. It is generally recommended to keep the H2O2 in the refrigerator to minimise evaporation, I personally store in the freezer, it does not freeze, further reducing its tendency to evaporate.
