3 types of grill lifters (i.e. the white grill for the 330 x 245 mm Microgreen trays)
1 – set of 4 external lifters, used by themselves for increasing the reservoir and maintaining dryness of the growing medium (minimising mould) e.g. for SnowPea Wheatgrass.
2 – set of 2 large lifters located underneath the tray in the centre to be used in conjunction with the 4 external lifters for stabilising the grill and increasing the water reservoir e.g. for longer term Microgreen such as Beetroot and Silver Beat.
3 – set of 2 smaller lifters located underneath the tray in the centre, stabilising the grill, used with punnets for medium-term microgreens such as Rocket and Coriander. The other use is with small potted herbs. Click to hide.

Set of 4 lifted tabs designed to elevate the grill section of the tray on the outside edge. This has 2 functions one to create a larger reservoir of water and 2 to allow the growing medium on the surface to remain dry (important for Pea and Wheatgrass where mould can be a problem if too much moisture exists on the surface of the growing medium). Set of 6 lifted tabs designed to elevate the grill section of the tray. The extra 2 lifting tabs slot in underneath the tray in the centre, this is useful for microgreens/baby leaf that grow for several months and consume a lot of water. The centre tabs keep the grill horizontal, meaning that if you're using the punnets as in the picture seen here growing beetroot then there is no bending in the tray at the centre and all punnets have equal access to the water below. This can also be useful if you wish to grow 1 or 2 pot plants where the roots grow through the base of the pot into the reservoir below. There is a shorter version of these 2 tabs that does not require the use of the 4 lifting tabs around the outside. Click to hide.

Set of 2 small lifter tabs designed to elevate the grill section of the tray. The 2 lifting tabs slot in underneath the tray in the centre, this is useful for microgreens/baby leaf that grow for several months and consume a lot of water. The centre tabs keep the grill horizontal, meaning that if you're growing a couple of pots of small herbs i.e. that you pick up at the market, then there is no bending in the tray at the centre. This is the shorter version of these 2 tabs that does not require the use of the 4 lifting tabs around the outside. This is probably the quickest and easy way to grow a wide range of herbs especially Basil which had a great range of varieties/flavours to your salad. Just remember when you bring potted herbs from outside into your system it is a good precaution to give them a good spray with a pyrethrum (natural) herbicide both on the leaves under the leaf and on the top of the potting mix. Here we see the 2 small lifter tabs from underneath supporting 2 small pots of Basil, you can see how the roots have grown through the slots. These pots generally come with slow release fertiliser so you do not need to add fertiliser to the water, just slowly thin out the smaller Basil plants and occasionally add a small amount of nutrient water to the top of the pot.
