Designed to help you grow MicroGreens in a variety of indoor locations, especially where depth is an issue, e.g. a kitchen bench top or a bookshelf, or small pot plants.

there are different tray options e.g. punnets, grill, cover etc or if you doing pot plants you may wish to use your own. We have assembled some of the tray kits that match the stand or alternatively you can purchase the individual trays in the parts category for this type of tray (the round tray with or without grill can also be used to support pot plants see the round tray category).

Using this system allows you to grow your micro-greens in a combination of Vermiculite and organic nutrients (this is what we use, but the soil coconut fibre will work equally as well) in small micro punnets 6 of which will fit in 1 of our 540 mm long trays, or you can just put the growing medium inside the tray, or you can choose the option of having a grill with an optional cover, probably the easiest and most efficient method.

You can also use this system to grow small pot plants either just on the base shelf, i.e. do not attach the front bar for convenience and place your pot plants on the shelf directly, if they already come with a water reservoir or use 1 of our rectangular trays in which you can place the grill option which gives you a mini reservoir and the roots will go through the grill into the water below or choose our capillary mat stand option. Both of these options are available for the rectangular tray or our round black trays.

If you are choosing the 2 shelf option then you need to select 1 of the tray, colour options as the 2nd shelf needs the support arms to support the trays as well as to attach the lights.
With regard to the light/tray support arms, there are 2 types one type is a narrow just designed to fit the width of our rectangular tray (this 1 is used on the base shelf, although most people will just remove the front bar and place the growing micro-greens or pot plants plants directly on the shelf or bench), the other one is wider and allows you to place the extra i.e. 2nd or 3rd light (also to note they are attached to these arms with a rotating connection), this is very convenient when growing in a bookshelf as you can pivot the outer light back in towards the cupboard. Note if you are just going to use it on a kitchen benchtop, and you do not want the support arms/light extending out past the edge of the trays then please let us know and we’ll exchange the longer arm for the short arms, the short arms will support up to 4 lights.

The best micro-greens to grow in this fashion are Snow Peas & Radish, these 2 are the most rewarding in as far as the amount of green and the speed to harvest.

Rocket lettuce, I grow these in this system using the micro punnets, I use 5 per tray, makes watering easier.

Punnets for MicroGreens

When I grow the Microgreens I use our Vermiculite Mix (plus Azomite and Diatomaceous Earth).

With regard to longer term greens in this case Rocket which I use a combination of our seedling mix and the above-mentioned vermiculite.

Base Kit for Bookshelf / Bench Top Light Stand. The kit is designed to help you grow micro-greens or herbs on a kitchen bench top or bookshelf or similar where you have limited depth. You have the option of 2 heights the smaller height is ideal for micro-greens and comes with 2x 10 W lights, the larger height can be used to grow small potted herbs and comes with 3x 10 W. lights. 1 shelf Kit for Bookshelf / Bench Top Light Stand. Here we see the bottom shelf with the metal front bar removed and a round tray with grill supporting a pot of Marjoram Herb. This base shelf is the longer of the 2 options and it has 3 lights, you can see how the one at the front is tilted/rotated to about 45°, so it points back in towards the pot plant, in this case being inside a white bookshelf it also has the advantage of more reflection from the back.

With the addition of micro punnets, here we see Rocket microgreens which has been covered by a thin layer of the Vermiculite this is about 3 wks. Note I've only used 5 punnets allowing a bit of space between each 1. Another use of the punnets is that if you are only wanting small quantities and lots of varieties you could have 6 punnets active but at different stages of growth. You could also place these punnets on top of the grill, which would give you just under a litre reservoir i.e. less watering which may be advantageous in hot weather. Click to hide
