Insect Trap Holder Vertical
this holder allows you to place the insect trap’s vertically, you can even use it to place the sticky sides, both on the inside and the outside, a little bit more fiddly to achieve.
This is the short holder for the Insect Trap, it consists of 2 pieces that allow the sticky section to be exposed both above and below. It comes into lengths, this is the short length which is designed to fit our narrow Microgreen stands e.g. bookshelf, that use the longer thinner rectangular trays.
When you grow herbs or Microgreens indoors you are inviting nature into your world. There are many benefits, in particular physical and mental health but there are some downsides which need to be addressed.
We believe in growing things as naturally as possible hence we use organic nutrients, if not 100% then close to it.
There are various insects that can attack your Microgreens/Herbs, so if you are bringing store bought herbs (e.g. pot of basil) into your LivingApartment growing system, then we recommend that you spray it thoroughly with Pyrethrum, a plant-based herbicide.
Probably the most annoying insect is what are called Fungal Gnats, these are the tiny insects that appear whenever you leave fruit out and it begins to go off, I have no idea where they come from they just seem to appear.
These are not really a problem for plants especially short-term i.e. couple of weeks to several months, however they will appear.
The best way to keep them in check is to keep the surface of your plant trays clean from any dead decaying material, if you see mould developing, cleanup, I use my handheld vacuum cleaner and spray with hydrogen peroxide the benefits of which I will go into at another stage.
The Fungal gnats are not interested in you they’re only interested in the dead decaying material at the base of the tray, so when they fly it is very close to where their food is and fortunately they are very attracted to the bright colour yellow, hence the use of these yellow sticky traps.
If you are keeping your trays clean from dead decaying material then you may only need to change these traps once every 6 months.
I have been using these traps for many years and they are fantastic, however they are very sticky so you need to be careful when you assemble them otherwise it’s hard to get the sticky material off your fingers.
Anyway long story short, we have created 2 types of holders to support the traps, making them much easier to assemble and use.
The 1st one is a double sided flat clear Perspex holder that comes in 2 sizes (see pictures), to make it easy to assemble we also supply the option of an assembly kit. So mounting the traps inside the Perspex holder, allows you to use the traps in many different situations again see pictures.
The other option is a freestanding kit which you can place on any flat surface.
