Microgreen LED Kit 25W
A 25 W. LED light panel with a mix of white and red LEDs, meaning you can grow a wide range of vegetables or even flower/fruiting plants. It comes with a 2m extension cable power supply and steel cable. We also supply cable ties which are much more flexible when connecting to our stands and also with regard to securing the cable to the vertical sections of the stand at the rear.
1 of the advantages is that the LEDs are enclosed in a reflective cone, this narrows the spread of each LED, meaning more intensity.
The only downside of this light is that it is not water resistant so you have to be very careful about spillage from trays above. If you do have a spillage make sure you get the sponge out and get rid of excess water as quickly as possible, if you have the time then there are a couple of preventative measures you can take the 1st 1 is just to run a silicon bead around the edges and over the screws heads, this will create a small dam that will enable you time to remove the water before it seeps down underneath, the other alternative is to cover with aluminium foil as you will see displayed in a later slide.

The 25 W. LED light panel comes with a chain, we use cable ties to attach it to our light stand as this gives greater control as to how close we mount it to the tray above on the next shelf. However you can see here where we've used 2 lights they have the chain attached, which goes over the steel arm of the light stand and underneath it is constricted with a cable tie allowing you to adjust the angle of the light. Underneath that you see netting that is designed to keep the bushy plant from getting too close to the lights. Click to hide
Here we see the light stand with and without the base plate & feet, notice without the base plate the power supply & cabling need to be mounted to the side. The cable connecting the power supply to the light is actually 2m long, so unless you have several shelves on top of each other, the cabling and power supply can be mounted at some distance if that is more convenient. Waterproofing light. In this picture you can see where I’ve cut the aluminium role into a square 30 cm X 30 cm (the width of the aluminium role is 30 cm, so that was handy) I have then put this on top of the lights and folded it over the edges, you can see in the bottom picture where it has just been turned up because of the cable attachment, so any spillage will either pull on the foil or drip over the edge keeping the light safe. Just remember to make sure there’s enough room between the top of the light and the tray above as this is where you will place the sticky insect trap and you do not want it touching the bottom of the tray. Even if this is the top shelf I would still recommend doing this as I use the top shelf, because of the heat generation from the lights, to germinate my microgreens before transferring them to under lower power lights for growth/greening. It may seem a fiddly but it’s a once off operation. To note we are negotiating with the manufacture to have a silicon bead placed around the edges and over the screws (also another option for you), but until we get new stock with this solution, this is all we have. Here we see the Cover being used with SnowPea microgreens, time to remove as most of the seeds have germinated and begun to lift the cover up. So take the tray into the kitchen remove the cover give it a quick rinse and place in the rack to dry. Now with the use of the tweezers go through and remove any seeds that look like they may be prone to mould you will see some look white and dry but others are a dark colour and the outer skin has become loose, hold the Pea in place with the tweezers and pinch off the outer cover, along with removing any that have any signs of mould. If you leave it too long and mould has started to develop then remove any that are affected and sprinkle the area with dolomite. Click to hide

330x245mm Tray Kits






[cm_tooltip_parse]This is the Base kit using the 330x245mm Microgreen Tray. This gives you everything you need to get started, except for the seeds. You get one tray plus a grill insert, 250 ml of organic fertiliser, 1 foldout insect trap, 1 Perspex tool for flattening the growing medium and pressing the seeds into it, plus the option of a cover. 3 litres of Vermiculite growing medium – crushed rock that has been heated to give it a popcorn like effect, good for holding air and water. It is blended with Azomite, which provides a super wide spread of minerals and trace elements and Diatomaceous Earth which is, crushed prehistoric freshwater shellfish, mainly as an insect deterrent.
The kit also includes 2 lifting tabs, that clip into the bottom of the grill, these ensure that the base of the grill remains even, and doesn't dip in the centre, which makes the germination process much more predictable.
Remember that these 330x245mm Microgreen Trays are kitchen grade, meaning that they are not UV protected, of course they will last many years next to a sunny window, but over time they will become brittle. Therefore, probably best used with our LED light growing system. We have other trays that are UV stabilised and more finely tuned for window ledge growing. This is our single tray width base kit for growing Microgreens such as SnowPea, Radish, Kale, Broccoli and Sunflower.
The stand is the shortest and comes with 2 trays (green/yellow) i.e. 1 for growing the Microgreen under LED's. The 2nd 1 is used to start the Microgreens on the top shelf (warmth from the lights below) and is used with the cover, then after about a week move it to the base shelf with the lights giving you a constant supply of that particular type of Microgreen. Each tray comes with 2 internal lifting tabs which keeps the grill horizontal, normally it would sag in the centre, i.e. designed to drain liquid from the outside to the centre, but this is not appropriate for Microgreens.
So you have several options the 1st being the colour of the tray,
The 2nd being the power supply that you can use with our 5w and 10w LED lights. The cable splitter is included with the base kit.
The 3A power supplies running at 12 V support 10 of the 5w LEDs and 6 of the 10w LEDs.

The other alternative is to not purchase our power supply and purchase 3 or 4 for a similar price on eBay. Yes the quality is not as good sometimes they last a few months but most of the time they last several years at least.
The 3rd option is whether you want to include a wide Perspex baseplate with small feet. This baseplate has several functions i.e. protecting the power supply and time are if they’re sitting underneath the stand, also good for keeping the bottom shelf free for greening your loose sprouts. So you get 2 Microgreen trays plus one cover (i.e. germination). As mentioned earlier the grill section of the tray comes with internal lifters, removing the unwonted sagging towards the centre. 2 x 5w LED lights with perspex brackets + 2 L of vermiculite (mixed with Azomite and diatomaceous earth) You also get a sticky insect trap.
The 3rd option is a white Perspex base plate.
The purpose of using the base plate, is mainly to hide and protect the power supplies and timer from any spillage, this is why would include the extra feet they give you that little bit of extra height. Also when you are using the base tray to green up your sprouts i.e. in the colanders, it's very convenient descended on the plate rather than amongst the cables underneath (in which case you would probably remove the by front crossbar to increase your access)
