Coconut Fibre Compressed Block - 0.7kg makes 8 litres of loose spreadable fibre, the best quality coconut fibre we could find, it comes in a compressed fine cut format, just add water & Probiotic Nutrients.
Unlike some other coconut fibres this has a fine texture without the large clumps of bark, it does have some fibrous material this also makes it ideal for growing vegetables. Click to hide.

Here we see the simple process of rehydrating one compressed block of coconut fibre.
Stand the block on its end, add approximately 6 to 8 L of water containing 30 mls of Probiotic Micronutrients, poor half the liquid into the bucket with the coconut block wait 10 minutes turn the block upside down and for the rest in. After another 10 to 15 minutes massage the block until the block is rehydrated, at this stage you can optionally add 50 – 100 mils of Azomite and/or black compost powder, and/or vermiculite and/or perlite, depending on what you want to use it for.

Here the Coco fibre has been spread in the tray, the advantage of using the Coco is that it hangs together and will not fall through the holes in the grill meaning you do not have to use paper towel as in the case of just using the Vermiculite, there are pros and cons either way, discussed elsewhere (personally I use just vermiculite with the paper towel as it is quicker and less messy). In this situation the small seeds are spread on top sprayed with water and then you place the Perspex cover or in the case of tiny seeds like these it's better to just cover with us thin layer of Vermiculite. Here we see Snow Pea microgreens being grown in just the Coco fibre in one of our longer narrower rectangular trays. For the Snow Pea I would be inclined to use 1 of our grills as it makes watering much easier, but it can be done with a little care just using the Coco fibre in the tray as you can see in the picture. Coco Fibre

$5.00 GST inc.

Coco Fibre Compressed est quality fine cut, makes 8ltr of loose.

Product Info.

0.7kg makes 8 litres, the best quality coconut fibre we could find, it comes in a compressed fine cut format, just add water & Probiotic Nutrients.
Unlike some other coconut fibres this has a fine texture without the large clumps of bark, it does have some fibros material this also makes it ideal for growing vegetables. It is easy to spread in a uniform manner, making it the perfect medium for growing all of the vertical sprouts such as Snow peas, Wheatgrass, Radish, Cress, Mustard, and Broccoli.
We recommend you mix this with Vermiculite, for best vertical sprouting results, you want to grow pot plants then we recommend you also mix in Perlite. (See related items below)
I mix 1 block at a time then transfer to the larger container for storage, easier to mix 1 block at a time.
It is clean, ideal for growing indoors, 100% organic & free of any chemical additives, it is also free of harmful viruses sometimes found in soil based potting mixes. The best results, especially for vertical sprouts.
Things to remember:-
When selecting a bucket or container make sure it is a little larger than the block size e.g. a standard round bucket is 9ltr but I would recommend the square type which is 12ltr, which is ideal for the 0.7kg/8ltr block.
When you look at the block of Coco Fibre you will see that it is layered, place in the bucket so that the layers are vertical, and slowly pour ½ of the water on top of the block from above, leave for 5-10 mins then turn the block over, then add the rest, leave for another 10 mins, then mix thoroughly by hand if there are any dry bits just add a little bit of water to each clump. You want it reasonably wet so you don’t have to add water for 4 days after planting, also so it won’t fall through the grill.
Place 1 block in a 10/12 ltr bucket (I use the 12L square type), each block will expand to 8 ltrs.
Make up 6-8L of water + 30ml Microgreen nutrients you could also add the 100 mls of Azomite, do this at the end so you can mix it in and distributed evenly, you could also optionally add 100 mills of our humanist product.
The trick to mixing with the Vermiculite and/or Perlite is to rehydrate the Coco fibre as above then put the perlite/vermiculite in the base of the new bucket e.g. for sprouting 2 litres of the vermiculite then add 1 L of the Coco fibre and mix by hand, keep repeating this process until the bucket is full.
Keep container with rehydrated coco-fibre covered ie lid with small holes or tea towel, so insects can’t get in & lay their eggs. If fungal mites are a problem add 15 drops of Pyrethrum-13g/L or 3 drops of Pyrethrum-75g/L, to the 3L of water.

Vermiculite - a crushed rock that is heated and forms a popcorn like effect with great aeration and water holding ability, ideal for short-term microgreens, being very clean and easy to spread no fuss. Click to hide.

Azomite (Micronized powder) is a mineral and trace element supplement. It is a very complicated product in the sense that it contains 67 + chemical elements, most in an oxide form along with trace and rare earth minerals. The product is a natural volcanic ash, albeit 30 million years old, it has been subjected to rigorous testing and has been approved for use in large-scale Organic Plant and Livestock production in the US.
