Sprout Kit Lg + Mesh bags

This kit consists of one large colander with cover + 2 x mesh bags + 250ml of bio-activated organic nutrients along with a selection of seeds or not + Fridge Storage System.
The idea here is that you Sprout the seeds in the mesh bag for the 1st 3 or 4 days, and then transfer them to the large colander for the final stage of greening and de-husking and then storage in the fridge. When the sprouts are ready you stop soaking and draining them and leave them to dry for 1-2 days and then store them in the other mesh bag inside the cotton bag inside a plastic bag. You can then start sprouting again in your other mesh bag. This saves you the cost of extra small colanders with covers but not quite as convenient in my opinion, a little bit more fiddly and cleaning the mesh bag is a bit of a pain. Click to hide.

Here we see the steps involved in this process: – soaking the seeds overnight in bowl/cup with the nutrients supplied (warm water in winter). Rinse clean and allow for one day before soaking again in the nutrient solution for 10 to 20 minutes, rinse clean (open bag and allow tap water to run through the sprouts), when the bag is full, empty them into the large colander and proceed to soak rinse and de-husk for the next 2 or 3 days allowing the sprouts to green up. Sprout Kit Lg. x 1 + Sm. x 2 Fenugreek husk removal

Here we see the Fenugreek sprouts, in the large colander they have begun to shed their husk most of these will be washed over the edge just by creating a small wave movement with your hand. Un-sprouted seeds and waterlogged husk, will remain on the bottom and for the last couple of days I recommend you take the bulk of the sprouts from the grill and place them in the base, give the grill a quick rinse getting rid of any un-sprouted or husks that have sunk to the bottom, then placing the grill on top of the base tip it upside down and proceed with your soak and rinse procedure. Sprout Storage Cotton bag

This picture shows the parts you get for storage of your sprouts in the fridge, process described on the next slide. We supply 2 cotton bags with this kit, the reason being is that, no matter how carefully you remove the surface moisture, there will always be some remaining, meaning that when you take your sprouts out after a day or 2 you will find the cotton bag may be quite damp so swap the cotton bag, hang the moist one up to dry. Click to hide.

Sprout Cover Sm. Silicon plug

This is the method I now use to store my sprouts and salad greens also other vegetables. If it is leafy greens like sprouts then it's best to store them 1st in a mesh bag, the reason for this is that any damp material will not stick to the cotton bag (meaning you do not have to wash the cotton bag every time you change it). So the simple procedure is put the leafy greens inside the mesh bag, zip it up, place inside the cotton bag, then place inside a plastic bag that doesn't have any holes in it, gently squeeze the air out and secure with the clip.

Vegetable storage – cotton bag

Here we see the procedure for storing some vegetables, in this case a cob of corn and a cucumber. Step one is to make sure you remove any surface moisture (just leave them in a well aired place for a few hours and this will happen) wrap each 1 in a paper towel then place in the cotton bag, then inside the plastic bag, remove the air and secure with the clip supplied if the paper towel becomes damp just replace it before the cotton bag becomes saturated. Click to hide.

Vegetable storage – cotton bag

This cotton bag is also designed to be used as a carry bag, it comes with handles for your hand which are also used as part of the folding mechanism i.e. folds into a small package so it can easily fit inside your normal carry bag when you go vegetable shopping i.e. the one that fits over your shoulder, this 1 can be used to carry delicate fruit/veggies and comes with a convenient handgrip. Folding process shown on the next slide. Click to hide.

Vegetable storage – cotton bag

Here we see the process of using the handle strap to secure a small folded version of the bag. Step one is to fold in thirds, step 2 fold to the edge of the handles, then fold in 3, with the final base fold going through the strap. Click to hide.

Vegetable storage bag - Folding

If bag becomes too moist and left too long in the refrigerator, it will develop spots of mould the simple solution is to soak in bleach for a couple of hours, then soak in freshwater and rinse clean. This is why it's important to change the cotton bag every day or 2 and turn the plastic bag inside out so the condensation is on the outside.
Store and reuse just topping up with bleach if it becomes weak, this way you will not be pouring it down the sink which is not good for the environment. Click to hide.

Product Info...

This kit consists of one 1 large colander with cover, a mesh bag + Storage options(2 x cotton bags, 1 x mesh bag, plastic bag clip ) +250 ml of bio-activated nutrients for sprouting with seed selection..
The idea here is that you Sprout the seeds in the mesh bag for the 1st 3 or 4 days, and when they are large enough you transfer them to the large colander for the final stage of greening and the de-husking and then storage in the fridge. So here you are using a Sprout bag instead of the small colanders with cover obviously the big advantages is price however it is a little bit more fiddly and cleaning the mesh bag is a bit of a pain. You will also need a bowl that you can rest the mesh bag in with the sprouts so that they can drain, so a bowl with something in it that the mesh bag can sit on e.g. pebbles or an upside down smaller plate or bowl.
When it comes to storage you have the option of storing it inside the mesh bag inside the large colander (making sure you cover the drain holes on the side of the base), the limiting factor with this method is the amount of room that you have in your fridge as the large colander is 4L – dimensions (330L x 290W x 140H). The way that I now do it is using the combination of mesh bag, cotton bag, plastic bag. The trick being with this method is to make sure the sprouts are not too wet, so for the last 2 days you leave the sprouts at an angle in the large colander, this works really well all you have to do is place the grill section with the sprouts at an angle and across the base. After one day take the sprouts and turn them upside down so that the moisture at the bottom gets a chance to try out for the final day. You may also wish to add the lid during the night just to ensure there are no unwanted visitors to your sprouts during the evening.

Sprout Kit Lg. x 1

Sprouting kit 1 large colander with cover + Storage options(2 x cotton bags, 2 x mesh bags, plastic bag clip ) for the early stage of sprouting (instead of the small colanders) +250 ml of bio-activated nutrients for sprouting with seed selection. So the idea with this kit is you use 1 of the mesh bags to grow your sprouts for the 1st say 4 days, you then empty them into the large colander for the final stages of cleaning (removal of husk) and greening. When the sprouts are ready you stop soaking and draining them and leave them to dry for a couple of days and then store them in the other mesh bag inside the cotton bag inside a plastic bag. You can then start sprouting again in your other mesh bag or if you have another spare colander you can begin this process earlier. This saves you the cost of extra small colanders with covers but not quite as convenient in my opinion. Select the Product Name button to go to that Product Or Click to hide.

Sprout Kit Lg. x 1
Sprout Kit Lg. Mung

Growing Super Mung bean Sprouts using one large 4 L colander +2 KG of pebbles to weigh the sprouts +1 KG of Mung bean and bio-activated super organic nutrients.
Growing the mung bean in the long white format. This can be done by putting it in a space that restricts its growth or similarly, as we have done here, placing a weight on top of the sprouts, along with the tea towel this serves the purpose of also keeping the light out i.e. so the leaf development is restricted.
We give you the option of purchasing this kit with or without the cover, if you are just doing mung beans then you do not need the cover, however if you want to use it to do normal sprouts then you can sprout the seeds in the mesh bag for say 3 – 4 days, and then empty them into the large colander and proceed with the sprouting process from there, in this case you will need the cover.
We also supply you with our sprouts/vegetable storage system this allows you to store your sprouts in the fridge for well over a week. . Select the Product Name button to go to that Product Or Click to hide.
