There are 2 ways to secure the clear cover to the colander. In this picture we show the clip being used, I use the clip during the sprouting process and the silicon plug when I store it in the fridge. The advantage of the clip is that if you align it with the base where the hole in the handle is situated the inner grill is slightly elevated allowing the perfect amount of air to flow underneath and then up through the sprouts and out through the holes in the cover. It can also be aligned the other way and in that case it will sit flat due to the indentation in the base of the colander at the other end.
In the picture you see it set at an angle, I use this feature to let it sit for 5 minutes after I have done the rinse and soak procedure as it accelerates drainage at this angle and then return it to the aforementioned position. Click to hide.

Massey Gem pea seeds after 3 or 4 days attach cover using clip & plug, will continue to grow slowly in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. The clip and the plug keeps the lid in place and this is the method I use to use to store all my sprouts before I discovered the cotton bag method. Using the colanders to store in the fridge means you don’t have to worry about changing the bag as any excess moisture just drips through to the base bowl, but they do take up valuable extra space. Having said that I still use this method i.e. the colanders to store the Lentils and Massey Gem, but use the cotton bag for everything else I find this works best for me. Click to hide.

This clear Perspex Sprout cover, is used as a cover for our smaller Sprouting colanders when doing Loose sprouting.
It comes with 3 x attachment methods.
1- is a metal clip this is precisely designed so that the end part of the clip fits flush with the surface, it tends to further restrict the cover from rotating out of position while in the fridge, although the plug does this to a slightly lesser degree depending on how firmly you attach it. The clip also provides a larger air-gap for air circulation, depending on which end you place it relative to the base.

2- is a plug that pops in & out, the main benefit of using this attachment is that it allows you to rotate the cover, meaning that when you take the colander out of the fridge and wish to very quickly just grab some sprouts, then you can just rotate the cover, take the sprouts out and rotate back without having to lift the cover off and place it someplace else, not a big deal but just a little timesaver if you’re in a hurry.

3- Or you can use both together this way the cover is not going to move no matter what it bumps against in the fridge.
I tend to just use the plug in the fridge, and the clip when sprouting as it gives just the right amount of airgap especially for the 1st 3 or 4 days.
We have gone to this extra effort because we strongly believe in the functional importance of being able to store your sprouts in the fridge when they are at their peak condition. Because you are soaking your sprouts in bio-activated nutrients for the 6 day growing period, they remain vital and full of life for another 6 days in the fridge, this greatly extends their window of availability for eating, otherwise you have to do lots of little batches and you end up throwing a lot away which ends up being expensive, time-consuming and may cause you to stop sprouting, which is a no-win situation for anybody.
